The Word of God reads, "He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer." Psalms 102:17. My husband Jose and I had been out of work for quite a while, and had recently relocated into a new area, where we had just found jobs. Our financial situation was a struggling one with three young children. Because of present circumstances, and also in obedience to the Lord, we were instructed by the Holy Spirit not to borrow from banks or look to relatives for financial help. Our God was teaching us to depend totally on Him Jehovah Jireh for our every need. About this same time, Jose expressed his great need for a 1/2 ton pick-up truck. Of course, we knew that we could not go into debt for it and there wasn't any money available on our tight budget! Jose and I were learning to go to Jesus for our needs. We bowed our heads and prayed that our God would meet that need for that 1/2 ton pick- up truck; then we went on with our daily work and routines.
Several weeks went by and we had to go back to Ohio for our furniture and other belongings. Our new church friends gave us an offering to help out financially with the expenses of the trip. A week later, upon return to our new home, we had a notice from the bank that one of the checks that we had received in the offering from our church family had been returned due to non -sufficient funds. Jose and I debated on what to do. We needed the money in our checking account, yet we felt very badly that we would have to tell this brother that his check came back to us. We made a quick call to the precious lady who had brought us the offering and she assured us that she knew this brother well and it was probably an honest oversight on his part. She encouraged us to get in touch with him. We called him that night. He was very surprised to hear from us and puzzled that his check had been returned because he knew he had enough money in the bank to cover the check that he had written to us. He invited us over to his place. That following Saturday we drove about fifty miles to a small town where we visited with him.
When we arrived he was waiting for us. He was such a kind, and precious brother in the Lord. He cooked for us, and we had a wonderful time sharing in the Lord. Later, he gave us the money for the check that had been returned. Just as we stood at the door to leave late that afternoon, he turned around and looked straight at Jose and said, “You know I have that 1/2 ton pick- up truck there, pointing to a white truck sitting in his yard. I've been looking for someone to give it to. You wouldn't know someone that would need it? “Jose said, Praise God, brother, I've been praying for God to supply a 1/2 ton truck that I so desperately needed. I could really use it." He said, “It’s yours."
Praise God! Praise God!, the Lord God had Heard Our Prayer and Answered! God had given it to us and this precious brother had heard the Voice of God and obeyed. Therefore, he would be blessed too! Jose would have that truck for several years and then passed it on. It was still in good running condition. God used what appeared to be a negative circumstance of a NSF Check to draw us to the individual whom He would use to Bless Us with a Much Needed Truck.
Today we could ask, "Why didn't the man say he would come over and give us the money for the returned check? God's plan was for us to go over to this man's house, and there on his property sat God's Gift To Us and the Answer To Our Prayer. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. Thank you Jesus, that you are the God Of Circumstances, Good or Negative, You use them all to bless and take care of us.
