Dear Ministry Friends, one morning during Nichol's devotion time-- she prayed that the Lord would reveal Himself to her. This is her testimony of how He Heard and Answered Her Prayer.
I know how many things we have on our plate at times in our lives. I was thinking about Mary and Martha and how Mary came in and was washing the feet of Jesus with the oil and her hair. Martha was in the background observing. She had been cleaning and preparing food all day for the Lord’s Disciples. You could say she was upset because she had been slaving all day over the stove, cooking and cleaning. Mary walks in to wash the feet of Jesus. (Luke 10: 38-42) Mary knew the smell of death was in the air and she wanted to change the atmosphere to a sweet smell.
There are two types of people in the world today. You can look at it this way – one is a Thermometer and other is a Thermostat. A thermometer’s temperature rises and rises to what it feels, but a thermostat has wires built into it that regulates the temperature by pushing a button how cold/hot you want it. It can change the atmosphere, which in turn is what God wants for us. Do we want to adjust our lifestyle to each room with every change like a thermometer or do we want to walk into a room and change the atmosphere simply by the Presence of Jesus we carry. When Mary walked into the room, she changed the atmosphere. She made a difference from the smell of death to the sweet smell of the oil. She knew our Savior had come and was going to die.
In this world, there will always be Mary’s and Martha’s. I want to be a Mary, who will Change the Atmosphere and not become stagnant. I know we don’t always understand why at times we are having to take on such a load and carry the burdens of so many. But God is having you to change the atmosphere right there where you are, in your home and for many others to see. We are not to be ruled by the situation that we are facing, but rather we are to Look Toward The God of Heaven In Which Our Help Comes From. How can a garden grow if we don’t plant any seeds? How did these thoughts come about on what I have shared with you today? One day I pulled out an old CD to listen to in the car and as soon as I put it in a particular song began to play. The name of it was CONTROL! I had never heard this song before, but the words of the song said, "TAKE CONTROL OF THE ATMOSPHERE." This was a confirmation to me that what I was hearing was from the Lord.
We pray that you were blessed by this short testimony and encouraged to continue to talk to the Lord about your needs. (no matter how great or small) He is Faithful and Hears our Prayers. ”Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24. Nichol is my youngest daughter and lives in West Monroe, La. with her husband and two young children.
