It is my privilege to be able to bring you this word of exhortation in the name of the most High God, the Lord Jesus Christ. The book of Luke has always fascinated me for two reasons. The first reason is because we see our Savior as the greatest example of prayer, a real inspiration to us on how we ought to pray. We see the humbleness of His prayer life, especially when His disciples asked Him to show them how to pray. “And He said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.” Luke 11:2,4. What a master blueprint of prayer that only a Master could give man.
The second reason I’m fascinated is found in Luke 18:1. “And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” I’ve asked myself, “Where are those men of prayer as of old? What has happened to the Paul’s, Peters, and Johns, also the Smith Wigglesworths, the John Alexander Dowies; and Reese Howells?” I truly feel that today as God’s men we need t get the burden of prayer as leaders in the home. I know God has some men in their prayer closets, but where are those prayer leaders that are about the Father’s business, devoting their lives to prayer to bring fresh manna to the Church of Jesus Christ? Manna that is not always out of a sermon book or someone else’s message, but an anointed Word that is acquired by spending time at the Father’s feet, Men that are hungering after God as the first true apostles. Men that say, “Lord, here I am. Teach me to pray.”
It is time for us men to come forth as prayer warriors. I believe in my heart that the praying Anna’s have carried the ball in prayer long enough. These modern day Anna’s many times are precious housewives, women who are paying the price of dedicated prayer because some of us men don’t want to fall in line with the Word of God.
Beloved Sisters, I know what some of you have gone through and possibly are going through at this very moment. It took my wife years to see the promises of God come to pass, but like Anna, who believed for the coming of the Messiah, and God granted her the privilege of being the first to acclaim Christ, so did my wife. She Never Gave Up On Me and she is now seeing the fruit of her prayer labor. Day by day she believed until our God manifested the Answer to her Prayer.
So DON’T EVER GIVE UP, be encouraged for your husband, stand and watch the Hand of the Lord move for you and your family. Continue to pray that the man in your life get the burden of the Lord Jesus Christ, a praying man for a lost and dying world. --Testimony given by Jose Arredondo
