Prayer is the way we communicate with Almighty God when we want to spend time with Him or let Him know of our needs. Needs that many times are unattainable to us in this earthly realm and only He can bring them about through our supplication of prayer....
I can recall of one particular time when I had a great financial need in the ministry. I set time aside to fast and pray. All my bills were due and the treasury was empty. On Friday, the third day of seeking the Lord diligently-nothing seemed to have broken through for me--disconnect notices were soon to follow. I felt sad that God had not heard my prayer.
As I closed the door to the ministry to leave for the day I glanced at the clock and it was almost 5 p.m. You see we can have hidden mind sets that are unknown to us. Somehow I had God confused with man's work schedule-- thinking that He quits "working" at the end of the day like we do.
I went over to our little bookstore next door that my husband was attending. He was also getting ready to close for the day. I was sharing my thoughts with him on my "let down," when suddenly the front door buzzer rang and a woman walked in. Again, I glanced at the clock and in a few minutes it would be closing time. She was looking for a special song and immediately found it and walked over to the counter, pulled out her checkbook and said, "I have a check for United Intercessors." The check was enough to pay all my overdue bills, plus some! She proceeded to tell me her testimony. She had a big piece of equipment she wanted to sell, and she had called our prayer line a few weeks earlier and put in her prayer request for the Lord to send her a buyer. Well the buyer showed up and she sold it. She had promised the Lord that she would give the ministry of United Intercessors the tithe. I stood there in awe! It took a few seconds to let it all sink in and register into my mind. At the same time I began to rejoice as tears filled my eyes. I was so touched and grateful!!
The Lord had heard my prayer and then suddenly I remembered her prayer request. I had been praying for her need faithfully, yet I had never known the face behind the request. I learned a valuable lesson that day. God loves us and hears our prayers and the prayer you may be praying for someone else may be the prayer that "unlocks" the door for the "answer" to your need. He knows in advance of our dilemmas and begins preparations to meet them. He is the God of Perfect Timings!! "For as the heavens are higher than earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" Isaiah 55:9. To God Be the Glory!!
