One morning, a young man and his wife walked into my office at United Intercessors. They both had a need and shared with me that the wife was going to school to earn some extra credits. Their situation was that they had one car that had a standard transmission and his wife could only drive and automatic. The husband was presently unemployed and did not feel comfortable in getting another vehicle because he was not sure that he could afford another car payment. They both were very dissatisfied with their present transportation situation. She wanted a car she could drive, and he was saying, “No, we can’t afford it!’ It was causing a strain on their relationship. As I quickly pondered on their situation, I knew they both had a legitimate need.
Immediately, I asked them to bow their heads with me in prayer. I didn’t have the answer, and we needed God’s wisdom. The Holy Spirit gave me the wisdom on how to pray. Unfortunately, he didn’t instruct me to pray for a new car, or even ask God to bring in a few thousand dollars to buy an extra car for the wife. Although those thoughts did cross my own mind; God said, “Pray that there will be someone who presently owns a car that is an automatic and is willing to make an even trade for a car that his wife can drive.” That is exactly how I prayed!
The couple left my office before noon that day very encouraged.
The next morning they were in my office again. Now, they both were smiling! They shared with me their testimony to answered prayer. The young man was out driving late that previous afternoon running an errand. As he was driving down the street, he spotted this car that had a “For Sale” sign on it. He was prompted by the Holy Spirit to stop and ask about it. After talking to the owner for a few minutes, he shared with this man that he was looking for a smaller car with an automatic transmission. The young man then showed him his car and he was delighted, it was exactly what he needed! They decided to make an even trade.
Within twenty-four hours of the prayer we had prayed, they became owners of a car with an automatic transmission that yes, his wife could drive! His wife was so happy because she could now attend her school classes, and the husband was happy that he didn’t have to go into debt! To God Be The Glory!
