We Are A Work In Progress

I was doing some re-decorating and thought about throwing out an old chair that didn’t match my décor anymore. I liked the shape of it and it wasn’t broken but it had some nicks and scratches on it and the padding needed changed. I thought should I get rid of it, fix it or buy a new one? I knew that it had potential and with a little work it could be a new thing of beauty. The key here is to be able to visualize the potential in something that looks like it’s beyond repair. Well I decided to sand it, paint it and recover it with some new material. When my project was done I stood back and admired the finished work that the Lord blessed and enabled me to do. I was now looking at a thing of beauty that was originally worn out and almost discarded.

Many of us are broken, hurt and can be compared to that worn out chair before we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The transformation and rebuilding of our lives takes time and sometimes the sanding (rebuilding) can hurt. Maybe you feel like things aren’t changing as fast as you’d like them to—don’t grow weary, stay in the race, Jesus has the perfect plan for your life. He see’s the potential in you so let Him do the life changing work that needs to be done in you from the inside out. In time His word will change your heart so He will have a permanent place to reside and you and I can become more like Him. “Dear friends…he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.” 1 John 3:2.
