Our NDC Prayer Partners have been prayerfully
going before the Lord for many years asking Him to have mercy on us during the
many Hurricane Seasons which also brought Tropical Storms and other Weather
Disasters to the United States. May you be encouraged as I share a Testimony of
Answered Prayer with you.
One of our ministry praying partners who lives
in another state told me that a few weeks ago they began to receive all kinds
of severe weather warnings for her area and nearby counties. As soon as the warnings
began to come across the television she stood up--went to her window and began
to pray for God’s mercy and protection (Psalm 91) and for the storm to go around them and not cause any damage to
the surrounding areas. "Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my
soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge,
until these calamities be overpast. I will cry unto God most high; unto God
that performeth all things for me." Psalm 57:1-2
Heavy rains, possible flooding, hail and 70
mph wind gusts were expected. Within 30 minutes of the storms expected arrival
she would have to travel on a busy highway for at least an hour in the bad
weather to keep an appointment that she could not cancel. The time for her to
leave got closer and closer and the storm looked like it would hit at any
moment. When she pulled out her drive
way it got really dark and began to rain harder. She continued to pray and ask
Jesus for His mercy and help. As she
cautiously drove in the rain she needed to put gas in her car which was about a
mile or so down the road and just when she started to pull into the gas station
the weather update came over the local Christian radio station announcing that ALL WARNINGS WERE CANCELLED because it appeared that the storm quickly
dissipated and no longer was a threat to her area! With a sigh of relief she continued
to drive down the highway. The heavy rains turned to a light drizzle. The sun
shined brightly through the clouds ahead of her and before she knew it a Beautiful
Rainbow appeared in the sky! She knew that the Lord
heard the heartfelt prayers of all those that had prayed just days
before--Praise God for His Grace and Mercy! Praise God for His Grace and Mercy!
She said, “Sister Hilda, I’m so grateful to be
a part of such a devoted prayer ministry that brings me much peace and comfort
knowing that there are many faithful praying people who love Jesus and care
enough to pray for my family, friends and the needs of others. Prayer--Really Does Change Things! “Dear Heavenly Father, help us to remember to seek you and your
promises when things look the worst or when we are fearful. Thank you for
loving us and seeing us through each and every storm that comes our way. Amen.”
