Through The Eyes Of A Daughter--Happy Mother's Day!

TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER: I was told by friends and family members that when we were young, you made sure that we always looked our best. Hair combed, bathed and dressed according to the occasion. People would stop us on the street and compliment you on your lovely children. You’ve also told us many times how you loved to bathe us and cook our meals, making sure everything was perfect for us. You were content being a mother and housewife.

UNCERTAIN TIMES: A not so great memory that I have is you and Dad getting a divorce, forcing you to find a job outside the home to make ends meet. The worse time I thought in my life, but as I see it now as an adult with 3 children of my own, it was probably the worse time in your life. After Dad left it was a real struggle for a single mother to work full time find someone dependable to watch 3 young children and try and maintain some type of normalcy in the home. Relatives helped out when they could and we are grateful to them but at the end of the day we were still your responsibility. I watched you work several jobs just to get by. Over time, because of the lack of sleep, stress and poor eating habits your body withered down to 80 lbs. At that time, as a child, I didn’t know how to help. You were a grown-up with a lot of problems, problems a little girl couldn’t solve.

During the next very long 5 years that you and Dad were apart I held on to the hope that someday you and Dad would reunite. Then to my surprise you got remarried to another man. I was devastated and knew this was not right. God must have shown you that too because after a very short time you divorced. These men were in love with you not your (4) children. Two failed marriages within five years--God had a better plan. I felt sorry for you each time this happened. The Lord shows me now that you were very lonely and just needed someone to love you. You looked everywhere for answers and nothing seemed to help. JESUS WAS THE ANSWER He was with you the whole time. His hands were reaching out to you, waiting for you to reach out to Him!

With only one income we didn't have a lot of money during those years so we ate the same meals day after day and we wore hand me down clothes that people gave us. I couldn’t understand why this was happening to us and why it seemed like everyone else had so much more than we did. Even at the lowest point of our lives you kept going and never gave up. I can recall you opening the family Bible, reading the Psalms, looking for answers and crying out to God for help. Then one day the Lord would bring our Dad back home to us and Praise God you would remarry!

RESTORATION: We moved out of the basement that we were living in and into a duplex apartment with a nice yard. It was great having the family back together! It was not long after that you accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart; this was new to all of us. Again, Satan would try to destroy us by causing problems between You and Dad, because he did not understand this new relationship you had with JESUS. Yet, once again the Lord would see us through and blessed us with a beautiful 3 bedroom home of our own. I was now a freshman in high school and You and Dad gave us kids everything we could possibly need or want, trying to make up for the times we didn’t have anything. We had all the material things—money, cars, clothes, food, etc. God was good to us.

A MOVE FOR GOD: In June of 1979 I would graduate, marry and within a year my husband and I would have our first child. Eight months later God said, “Hilda, walk away from everything, leave family and friends, pack just the necessities and move to Louisiana.” This would be the beginning of your Ministry Training. It was very hard to see my whole family move so far away, but eventually we would follow. There I watched you grow in the Lord and Jesus would give you the (Ministry of United Intercessors) now National Divine Connection of Prayer. I would see you give up all the material things to serve the Lord. I couldn’t understand why you would give up things I thought you deserved since you had suffered and did without and yet you would be obedient to your Lord. After seven years of wilderness training for the Ministry you would move back to our home town. God would help you transplant the Ministry and bless you with a Church and School of the Prophets so you could teach the Word of God to His people.

I admire you and everything the Ministry stands for. You work day and night for the Lord. You stay up late to pray for the needs of others and to further the Kingdom of God. The love you have for your Country and God’s People is so inspiring to me. I know that I will not suffer the way you did because the Lord has changed you which changes me!

Your day starts early and end’s late. The Lord allowed me to help in the ministry so I come in at 9:00 a.m. and leave at 3:00 p.m. and then I go home. Sometimes in the evening I drive by the ministry and see the light in your sanctuary office still on. It’s late at night and you are still there. When I come in the next morning your already there. I see a woman of faith, dedication, love, compassion, wisdom and endurance. Mom, I am so proud of you!

People come in to this Ministry bruised and broken not knowing which way to turn or what to do. Praise God, they don’t leave the same way they came in. The Word of God is Powerful and that is what they receive when they walk through these Ministry Doors. I see them leave with Faith, Peace and most of all Hope in their eyes after praying and counseling with you. The ministry needs are great and the burden gets heavy at times. You have days that the enemy comes against you on every side but I never see you turn anyone away--I ask myself, who comforts you? Then I smile and answer my own question, Jesus, I know He’s your Friend and your Strength.

A GENERATION CHANGED: I’m 29 now, a wife and Mother of 3. My problems are few but when I do have them it’s really nice to have a Godly Mother who Listens, Comforts, and Council’s me with Wisdom, Love and the Word of God. Well, I’m all grown up and together we have come a long way. I learn from you every day I see you Praise God and thank Him for everything no matter the circumstance. You could pity yourself for the hardships you’ve had, instead you Praise Him and tell others of His Mercy and Unfailing Love!

You’ve shown me how God can work in our lives. I’ve seen Him do Miracles in your life and I have also heard you ask Him for help and He has always met your needs. You’ve shown me how Real God Is! I want you to know how much you are loved and I promise that your grandchildren will know the Lord and how much their Grandmother loved the Lord Jesus Christ. HE HAS CHOSEN YOU from among His people TO DO HIS WORK—you are truly a SERVANT OF GOD! Thank you for showing me the WAY TO JESUS! I Love You – Your Daughter Debra

The above letter was written to me by my oldest daughter Debra the week of Mother’s Day 1990. I have shared it with you so that it may bring hope to those in need as I give Him Glory! It is much more than a letter; it is the FRAGRANCE OF RESTORATION of what the cankerworm stole. Many of you have heard our Personal Testimony (Jose and I) and some of you have not, nevertheless, Jose and I went through years of divorce, heartache, and brokenness leaving our precious children with nothing but shattered hope and dreams.

God never gave up on us and neither did their little hearts. They always believed that their Mom and Dad would someday get back together. Because God had a special plan for Jose and I and our children, In 1976 He would bring me to THE REAL ROAD OF SUCCESS—JESUS CHRIST. Then later He would touch Jose, and then our (4) children. Today, Jesus has lovingly reunited us with our children after painful seasons of separation. He had made us whole, as a Family in Christ, and because of His mercy and grace I am privileged to have a second chance as a mother, but this time as a Godly one! Our God is Faithful to His Word and Promise! He spoke to my heart that this would be the Beginning of Great Restorations Among Families who have need of healing, or have broken fellowships with loved ones. To God Be The Glory!
