As we celebrate Thanksgiving in the next few days what a wonderful time many of us will have with family and friends. I can recall one Thanksgiving years ago. It was in the early 80’s during the time that we were in our "Wilderness Experience" being prepared for the Ministry of the Living God. My Husband and I were so very alone and at that time my Daughter and her Family were living in Galveston, Texas. Our hearts desire was to be with family and we had asked the Lord if we could go and visit her. But even if were to go we didn’t have the extra gas to travel to Galveston. In the “WILDERNESS” you will experience a “SEASON OF LONELINESS” like you've never had before. Nevertheless our Lord was not saying that we could or couldn't go--HE WAS SILENT. Finally, Thanksgiving Day came and we sat down with heavy hearts really early to our Small Thanksgiving Table and meal that consisted of a baked chicken. Both Jose and I came from large families and we’ve always had Thanksgiving Holidays with them. Here we were So Far Away From Home, No Family and thoughts like, What Are We Doing Here By Ourselves? There was a holy hush that came over us at that moment, and the Lord said, "Am I Enough For You?" and with many tears we said, Yes, Lord, You Are and continued to eat. As soon as we made that declaration to God the phone rang, it was a friend we had recently come to know. He, said, I have a TURKEY and all the TRIMMINGS for your THANKSGIVING DINNER--I don't know where you live, but meet me at the corner store and I will give it to you. I also have some money to give you--$12.00! We had just finished eating and were full, however, the Holy Spirit said, “This Dinner Is For You And Your Family in Galveston.” We were So Happy with Tears of Gratefulness because the Lord Had Supplied All that We Needed to Make the Trip and See Our Loved Ones!! We quickly put gas in our car and off we went!
Surely our God had Planned This Thanksgiving Dinner –On arrival we found our Daughter living in an empty apartment without any furniture and her three little children sleeping on the floor. They were not able to have a holiday dinner because her husband was without a job at the time. We Surprised them by walking in with a Turkey and all the Trimmings! Not long after --to our Surprise my Brother, his Wife and three Children also joined us for this Wonderful Reunion. They had been out on the Mission Field for some time and were also looking to spend Thanksgiving Day with family. God Planned That Day For ALL OF US! We all REJOICED, CRIED and THANKED GOD FOR HIS MERCY! What a lesson we learned that day - HE HAS TO BE FIRST IN EVERYTHING, and then everything else comes second. To God be The Glory! "And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God." Deuteronomy 28:2. Praying that you have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY as we THANK HIM for the MANY BLESSINGS!
