CELEBRATING THE FEAST!

“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” 1 Corinthians 5: 7-8
Dear Praying Friends,
The Israelites were instructed to celebrate the Feast of Passover. Preceding the actual feast day, there were seven days of preparation known as The Feast of Unleavened Bread. During this time they would search every nook and cranny in their homes with lighted candles looking for pieces of leavened bread. Not only were they not to have leaven in their homes, but they were forbidden to eat leavened bread during this feast time. If they disobeyed they would be cut off from Israel. To be cut off from the blessings and presence of God because of disobedience was a sad thing for the Israelites.
What is leaven? Leaven (or yeast) is a little bit of sour dough and when added to a batch of dough it has the action of fermentation. Leaven puffs up. It works silently, secretly, and gradually, until the whole is leavened. When leaven is spoken about in the Bible it symbolizes SIN in our lives! Passover represented a visitation from God to Egypt, the place where the Israelites were held captive by Pharaoh. Great judgment came to Pharaoh and Egypt, but Israel, God’s chosen people, were spared because they obeyed and celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread as they were instructed!
You May Be Asking Yourself, How Do We Keep The Feast Today?
As a Christian we should celebrate the feast by, “putting away” all leavening influences (SIN). For Israel it meant a complete separation from Egyptian gods, religion, bondage works and slavery's. For the believer it means putting away all evil doctrines, evil practices that separate us from the gods of this world which also include bondage's, habits of slavery and living a sanctified life. Let us hurry into our prayer closet and see if there be any old leaven, let the light of the Holy Spirit search out every nook and cranny as we prepare for our bridegroom’s return. Time is short, we cannot tarry in Egypt, but we must get Egypt out of our hearts. We are to be a “NEW LUMP” of dough unto the Lord! “For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.” Romans 11:16
If we don’t have a Personal Relationship With Jesus Christ, our Passover, then come quickly ad meet Him as your Savior so you will not have to experience the wrath of God! Just as he gave the Israelites seven days to prepare to remove all the leaven out of their lives, (SIN) today, that same mercy, gives us time too! But, then one day—PASSOVER COMES. WILL WE BE READY? HAVE WE PREPARED TO MEET HIM? Friend, it is a sad thing when an individual, a city, or nation is cut off from God because of disobedience! LET US OBEY and RECEIVE HIM INTO OUR HEARTS!
