The Lord has proven to me this principal over and over. several years back a brother and his family came to visit a relative of ours. They were here visiting a few days and were ready to leave to go back home. He had many hundreds of miles to travel and He was a brother of the household of faith. We are instructed in the word, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we therefore have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:9-10 That afternoon before he left, the Lord spoke to me to give him every bit of money that I had. I was saving for the ministry bills that were coming due in a few days and I had not near enough, so it appeared that I needed to save every penny and not give the money away. I checked and rechecked the voice but it was the voice of the Holy Spirit and I knew that I needed to obey.
You see when God speaks; many times it is contrary to our natural thinking. I took my blue money bag and pulled out all the cash and change for this needy brother. By now I was learning the principal of giving He had taught me, God first, (I had already paid my tithes), others second and me last. I recall that when I emptied the bag a penny rolled under a basket I had on the table. The brother who understood the sowing principal of seedtime and harvest, said, "Sister Hilda there was a penny that rolled under that basket and the Lord told you to give it all, that includes that penny." We both laughed and I gave him the penny, then he wept and wept as God met his need for the trip back home. This was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. By 9 o'clock that night my blue bag was running over with finances, 100 fold return plus, plus, plus some, I had enough to pay all the ministry bills and buy some building material that we needed for our Prayer Watch Center.
