He Is The Miracle Worker

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee for thou, Lord has not forsaken them that see thee.” Psalms 9:10
One afternoon, I had been working hard in the Sanctuary. It had been a super hot day in South Louisiana. I was looking forward to the end of the day. Jose would be home, eat supper and then I was going to suggest that we go out for short, cool ride in the country. This was always fun and refreshing. Many times this was our evening prayer closet as we prayed for different needs. The Word of God says that man plans, but He decides, and our God certainly had different plans for us that evening. The phone rang and it was our pastors. They were having some missionaries in from Mexico that night. These missionaries were being used mightily by God. They had been used to heal the sick and raise the dead. Jose had just come in from work and I put our Pastor on hold for a short moment to ask Jose if we could go. Jose’s face looked concerned. He said, “Hilda, we won’t be going anywhere tonight, I have about an eighth of a tank of gas and I still have to go to work one more day before payday.” I didn’t want to tell my Pastor this, but I was forced to tell them our gasoline situation. Immediately, they responded! “Don’t worry; someone dropped off an offering for you folks here at the church. When you come, we will give it to you.”
So, that night, with much confidence, we set out for this special service, There was no concern on how we were going to get home, The offering would take care of that. We had a wonderful time there and got to meet these great men of God. Everyone was so excited! After the meeting, Jose and I fellowshipped for a short while and then we were ready to take off for home. The Pastors kept talking to the visiting missionaries and to other members of the church. It was getting later and later, and Jose had to go to work the next day. It was a thirty mile drive home. I was as if they had forgotten about the offering they were to give us. Jose and I did not feel led of the Spirit to ask them, and almost felt embarrassed to remind them of the offering they were holding for us.
Now, over the years, the lord had really done a work of faith in my heart, but Jose was just beginning to believe the God who says that all things are possible unto him that believeth, the God of miracles! We got in the car; neither one of us was saying anything. It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. I immediately began to pray and I continued to pray, asking God to help us get home. Would we make it home? Our gas tank was almost on empty. I continued to pray quietly and Jose joined me, but all was quiet; no comments or conversation. We were now on the main highway, Interstate 10. Some time passed, I don’t know how much and I was still engrossed in prayer with my Maker. I felt Jose nudge me and all he could do was point at the gas gauge. Finally, he said excitedly, “Look at the gauge!” The most awesome thing was happening, the gas gauge was moving very slowly, towards the half tank mark! Jose and I were awestruck; it was just as if someone was putting gas in our tank and here we were traveling 50-55 mph on an open highway. At a half a tank, the needle stopped. Jose, my husband, who had many times doubted the God of the impossible, began to cry. He cried and cried, and kept saying, “God, You are the God of miracles. Forgive me; I will never doubt you again.”
We got home, praising an Almighty God! Jose went to work that next morning. He traveled about twenty-some miles one way to work; then he came back that evening and later drove around taking care of some household errands. The next day we pulled up to a gas station to buy some gas. Oh, how our God had shown us that we cannot depend on man or money, but must be dependent on the One who created all things. “Father, in Jesus name, I ask you to help us trust you in impossible situations that we give you the opportunities to become our miracle worker who increases our faith…Amen
