"And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed." Acts 16: 25, 26
Many times we refer to the hour of trial or tribulation as the "hour of darkness." It was truly a dark hour for Paul and Silas as they found themselves thrust into the inner prison, their feet in stocks, because of the religious system of that day. This system had a form of godliness, but denied the power thereof. Not so with Paul and Silas; they believed in a God of miracles. They opposed the works of darkness, laid hands on the sick and cast out devils and were thrown into prison because of the Gospel.
Instead of calling for the town lawyer to set their bail, they looked up, and prayed and sang praises unto God during their "hour of darkness". They began to call upon their advocate, Jesus Christ, to move on behalf of their situation and immediately all doors swung open and bands were loosed!
Are you facing a dark hour? Whatever the crisis may be, remember what Paul and Silas did! They prayed, sang praises, and Jesus Christ, the Advocate, suddenly showed up to defend their case and immediately He signed their bail and set them free! He will do the same for us today! Prayer Changes Things!! To God Be The Glory!
